What is Nosce Te Ipsum Cotillion & Beautillion?
Nosce Te Ipsum is an eight-month leadership and scholarship program for high school juniors and seniors, combining mentorship, workshops, service, and a formal gala presentation. Participants are introduced as Debutantes (young women) and Beaus (young men).
Who is eligible to participate?
High school juniors and seniors in the Nashville area, especially those interested in leadership, service, cultural awareness, and personal growth. Participants must be committed to attending all program meetings, events, and the gala presentation.
Is this program religious?
Yes, the program is faith-based and rooted in Christian values, but all students are welcome to apply regardless of their religious affiliation. One of the five program pillars is God-knowledge.
Is there a cost to participate?
Yes. Participants are expected to contribute to fundraising goals that support scholarships. Specific financial expectations are shared at orientation. Payment plans and sponsorships may be available.
What does the program involve?
Workshops, mentorship sessions, reading assignments, community service projects, cultural events, and scholarship fundraising. Each student must complete all five knowledge pillars to be presented at the gala.
When does the program begin and end?
The program begins each fall and concludes with the formal Cotillion & Beautillion Gala in the spring.
Are parents involved?
Absolutely. Parents will be invited to key meetings and may assist with gala planning, fundraising, and support during the program.
What do participants wear to the gala?
Debutantes wear white gowns and gloves. Beaus wear black tuxedos. Dress codes and fitting guidance are provided in advance.
